'Cradle' -from freize of Crete earth, water from stagnant swimming pool and red brick dust, in the basement of abandoned mountain villa. I washed them away as I didn't wanna give the residency a bad reputation with villagers and inspire the local kids to embellish the figures , and in doing so created some more ambiguous, ghosted images but didn't record final ones. Im back from Crete now and revisting work made there nearly 2 years ago, The application of mud and the stylisation of figures changed over the 7 weeks of returning to this desolate but evocative place. I wondered what imagery felt appropriate in this subterranean secret room . As the song goes 'we found love in a hopeless place' x
