PRINT!
Curated by Jesse Leroy Smith and Bernard Irwin
Historical and contemporary survey of international printmaking based in Cornwall at the Exchange Gallery, Penzance. Built around fully active print workshop with 12-week programme of residencies, workshops, talks and symposium.
Funding by the Heritage Lottery Fund allowed contemporary regional artists and graduates to show work alongside renowned modern masters.
Curated around the dynamic centres for learning, collaboration and innovation that printmaking studios create. Cornwall being home to a phenomenal legacy of them from
those of Stanley Jones and Hugh Stoneman to the thriving ones now such at Falmouth University, Porthmeor and at Penryn led by John Howard.
PRINT! was Dedicated To Brian Stewart (6th Aug 1954 – 12th Dec 2010) curator at Falmouth Museum, who helped us enormously and who built up the remarkable Print Collection there. A curator with such unique passion, humour and energy that created a place for everyone to enjoy and share.
